Description
Beška Monastery is located in the central part of the island with the same name in Skadar Lake. The monastery consists of two churches, larger one dedicated to St. George (14th century) and smaller one to the Virgin Mary (1440). It is the endowment of Đurađ II Stanimirović – Balšić. The Beška Monastery, as well as the Starčevo Monastery, was known for its intensive transcription activities. The Manuscript of Gorica, a religious-educational manuscript compiled by Nikon Jerusalimac, originates from there.
